Highlights

  • A sushi chef demonstrates and teaches nigiri technique directly in front of you at a casual Shibuya restaurant.
  • The experience takes place at a Tabelog-listed sushi or seafood restaurant in one of Tokyo’s most active districts.
  • A guide accompanies the session and facilitates communication, including a Q&A with the chef.
  • Additional food and drinks are available to order on-site at your own expense.

What to Expect

You arrive in Shibuya, one of Tokyo’s most recognizable and fast-moving neighborhoods, and step away from its busy streets into a casual, welcoming restaurant setting. Unlike formal omakase counters, this experience is designed to be approachable — the kind of place where sushi culture feels accessible rather than intimidating. Your guide introduces the session and sets the context for what you are about to do.
Standing at the counter or workspace, you watch as the sushi chef demonstrates nigiri technique up close, then follow along to shape and press your own pieces using the same method. You handle the rice, position the fish, and work through each step with the chef’s guidance. Your guide is on hand throughout to translate instructions and relay any questions you want to put to the chef during the session.
By the end of the 90-minute class, you have assembled a selection of nigiri with your own hands, shaped under the direction of a working sushi chef. You leave with a practical understanding of how nigiri is constructed — the balance of rice, pressure, and topping — that goes beyond simply watching it being made.

Important Information

  • Additional drinks and food ordered during the session are not included and must be paid for separately on-site.
  • The restaurant is selected from Tabelog-listed casual sushi or seafood dining establishments; this is not a high-end omakase experience.
  • A guide is present throughout the session to assist with communication between participants and the chef.
  • Booking conditions and cancellation policy are confirmed at the time of reservation — review these carefully before completing your booking.
  • Participants should arrive at the designated Shibuya meeting point on time, as the session begins promptly.
  • Contact the operator in advance if you have dietary restrictions or allergies related to raw fish or seafood.
