Shimonoseki
Overview
Shimonoseki is located at the southwestern tip of Honshu, facing the Kanmon Strait. Known for its seafood, particularly fugu (blowfish), it is one of the most famous fish markets in Japan. The city has a rich history, including its role as a key trading port during the Meiji period. Attractions include the Shimonoseki Kaikyokan (a maritime museum), the famous Kanmon Bridge, and the ruins of Shimonoseki Castle.
