What to Expect
You arrive in Kochi, a city on Shikoku island with a drinking culture deeply woven into local life. Kochi is widely recognized within Japan for its lively after-dark scene, and the area around Obiyamachi — one of the longest covered shopping arcades in Japan — anchors a network of narrow backstreets and bar-lined alleys that come alive at night. Your guide meets you at the starting point and orients you to the evening ahead before the first stop.
From there, you move on foot between three separate bars, each sitting in a different pocket of Kochi’s nightlife district. At every venue, you order drinks and food directly at the bar, paying as you go. Your guide introduces each spot, helps you navigate the menu, and bridges conversation between you and the people around you — whether that’s the staff or other guests sharing the counter.
By the final bar, you will have moved through three distinct corners of Kochi’s drinking scene, ordered and consumed at each one, and spent a genuine evening the way locals do. The tour closes after the third venue, leaving you free to continue the night on your own or head back at your own pace.
