Overview
Basel is a city in northwestern Switzerland, located along the Rhine River and near the borders of France and Germany. It is Switzerland's cultural capital, home to many world-class museums, including the Kunstmuseum and Fondation Beyeler. Basel is also known for its pharmaceutical and chemical industries, housing major companies such as Novartis and Roche. The city hosts the prestigious Art Basel, one of the world’s most important contemporary art fairs.
